Vishay's New SMD HI-TMP Liquid Tantalum Capacitors Save Substrate Space and Improve Reliability

     Vishay Intertechnology, Inc has introduced a new series of HI-TMP surface mount liquid tantalum capacitors with a small C outline code that can operate at high temperatures of +200 °C - the T24 series. The capacitors are smaller in size and footprint than comparable plug-in and overmolded high-temperature devices, more efficient use of substrate space, and improved reliability in oil exploration and defense and aerospace radar applications.

     The capacitors announced today measure 9 mm x 7.1 mm x 7.4 mm and feature a tantalum metal case with a glass-tantalum seal. Suitable for clocking, filtering, energy retention, and pulsed power applications, the device is thermally shock resistant to 300 cycles and has a lifetime of 2,000 hours at +200 °C, eliminating the need for larger plug-in devices in harsh environments.

     The rated voltage of T24 series is 45VDC and 75VDC when derating at 200℃, the capacitance is 33 µF and 10 µF respectively, the capacitance tolerance is ± 10 %, and the standard product is ± 20 %. The device operates from -55 °C to +85 °C, with voltage derating to +200 °C, with a maximum ESR of only 2.5 Ω at 120 Hz and +85 °C. Capacitors are RoHS and Vishay Green compliant and halogen free.
